CS2 on UpFrag: your questions.
Everything about Counter-Strike 2 matchmaking on UpFrag: pricing, UP-Coins, the Up-AC anticheat, the Glicko-2 ranking, wagers and skin withdrawals.
01Is the platform free to play?
+
Yes. Signing up is free, and the starter tasks pay up to 2,000 bonus UPC. No payment is required to play.
02Why do I need to verify both an email and a phone number?
+
Both checks limit multi-accounting, which distorts the ranking and makes matchmaking unfair. A phone number can only be used for one account. Registration is only complete once both channels are verified. Your number never appears on your profile and is never shared with anyone.
03I'm not receiving the verification code, what should I do?
+
The code goes to WhatsApp first, on the number you entered: check your WhatsApp messages before your texts. Check the country code, then request a new code after a minute. After three WhatsApp attempts with no answer, an SMS takes over where that is possible. If nothing arrives, open a ticket under Account with your nickname and number: we verify the account by hand.
04I am told I do not have enough playtime on CS2.
+
Ranked matchmaking requires a minimum number of hours on Counter-Strike 2, read from your Steam profile. If your playtime is hidden we cannot read it and the check fails. In Steam: Profile, Edit profile, Privacy, set My profile and Game details to Public, and untick Always keep my total playtime private. The account is re-checked on your next attempt.
05Is there a minimum age?
+
Yes, sixteen. Between 16 and 18, a legal guardian's consent is required, as stated in the terms of use.
06How do I find a match?
+
Navigate to the Play page and select your preferred game mode. You will be matched with players of similar skill level.
07What formats are available?
+
1v1, 2v2, 3v3 and 5v5 competitive matchmaking, all on dedicated servers.
08Can I play with my friends?
+
Yes. Create a party, invite your friends, then queue together. A party is never split across the two teams: it always plays on the same side. You can queue for several modes at once to shorten the wait.
09How do I join my match server?
+
Once the server is ready, the match page shows a Join button that launches CS2 directly, and a button to copy the connect command to paste into the game console. The server address is never displayed in plain text: only players in that match are allowed to connect, and the access list is enforced server-side.
10Where are the servers and how is mine picked?
+
Servers are dedicated and hosted in Europe. One is started for your match when it is created, then released at the end. No server is ever shared between two matches.
11How is the map chosen?
+
By successive elimination between the two teams before the match starts, from the map pool of the mode being played. The pick timer is limited: with no answer, the elimination happens automatically.
12What happens if a player leaves or goes AFK?
+
A player who does not join the server, or leaves mid-match, gets a waiting period before they can queue again, growing with repeat offences. Repeated abandons and team sabotage are sanctioned like any other harmful behaviour, after review.
13How do tournaments work?
+
Single-elimination brackets in 1v1, 2v2 and 5v5, played on dedicated servers. Prize pools are paid in UPC, convertible into CS2 skins. Sign-ups happen on the tournaments page.
14How do I enter a CS2 tournament?
+
Build your team in the lobby, then the captain registers the whole party from the tournament page. If check-in is required it opens a few minutes before the start: without it the team is removed from the bracket and refunded. Open tournaments are listed on the Tournaments page.
15Do tournaments cost anything?
+
It depends on the tournament. Some are free with a prize funded by the platform, others ask for an UP-Coin entry fee that builds the pot, and some combine both. The amount shown already accounts for the commission, and a cancellation refunds every entry fee to the balance it came from.
16Can I play a tournament without a team?
+
For team formats, registration goes through an existing party: you need the exact number of players before signing up. 1v1 tournaments are played alone. The Discord server is the easiest place to find teammates.
17What is tournament check-in?
+
When the organiser requires it, the captain must confirm the team is present, within a window that opens shortly before the start and closes a few minutes before kickoff. Reminders go out by email, on Discord and in the app, and a final notice is sent the moment the window opens. A team not confirmed by closing time forfeits: the seat is released and the entry fee is not returned. It would be returned if the tournament were cancelled. This stops a seat being booked then abandoned, which deprives another player and can drop the tournament below its minimum.
18What if a tournament date changes?
+
An email goes out to every entrant as soon as the start date is changed, and check-in reminders are recalculated for the new date. Your registration still stands, nothing to redo. If the tournament is cancelled outright, every entry fee is refunded automatically to the balance it came from.
19Can my team lose by forfeit?
+
Yes, in two cases: if it does not check in within the window, or if a player fails to join the server in time once the match has started. In both cases the entry fee is lost. Warn the organiser in advance, or withdraw before registration closes: the fee is then returned in full.
20Can a team have substitutes or a coach?
+
Depending on the tournament, yes: the organiser sets how many substitutes are allowed and whether a coach is permitted. They register with the team and pay the same entry fee as the starters. Their stake does not go into the prize pool though, it is removed from the economy: the announced prize depends only on the starters, so nobody can inflate it by registering substitutes. The coach does not play and has no slot on the server.
21When can I bring in a substitute?
+
Before the match starts. A substitute takes a starter's place for the whole match: as long as no server has been started for your team, the captain can swap as often as they like. Once the match is under way, the lineup is locked. In BO3 or BO5, the choice is made before the first map and holds for the whole series.
22What anticheat does UpFrag use?
+
Up-AC, built in-house. It watches the match live from our servers, then replays the full demo once the game ends. There is nothing to install on your machine, and no sanction is ever issued without human review.
23What is the difference between VAC and your anticheat?
+
VAC is Valve's anticheat, active on official servers. Up-AC is ours: it watches the match live from our servers, then re-analyses the full demo afterwards. Both are taken into account, and a recent VAC ban alone can block access to the platform.
24How are smurfs and cheaters handled?
+
Every account requires email and phone verification. Matchmaking is rating-based, suspicious accounts are flagged automatically, and UpFrag AC analyses every match.
25How do I report a cheater?
+
Submit a support ticket with category "Abuse" and include the match ID and player details.
26What happens to reported players?
+
Our team reviews all reports within 24 hours. Confirmed cheaters receive permanent bans.
27I have been banned, can I appeal?
+
Yes. Open a ticket under Ban appeal with your username and, if you have it, the match ID. The case is reviewed by a person on the team, never by an automated process alone. The technical evidence behind the decision stays internal, but the reply tells you the reason on record.
28What is UPC?
+
UP-Coins (UPC) are the UpFrag currency, at 1,000 UPC for 1 euro. There are two pockets. UPC buy real skins. Bonus, earned by playing, is wagered on matches and tournaments: winning is what turns it into real value.
29What are UPC used for?
+
UPC you buy or win from wagers get you real CS2 skins. Bonus UPC are wagered on matches, spent on tournament entries and in the internal shop.
30How do I deposit UPC?
+
Go to the Wallet page and select a UPC pack. You can pay with any card via Stripe.
31How do I get my skins?
+
From the shop, pick the item and confirm: it is sent as a Steam trade offer to the linked account. Your Steam inventory must be public and your account able to receive trades, otherwise the offer cannot be sent.
32Why is my skin held for several days?
+
Steam applies a seven-day trade hold when the mobile authenticator has not been active long enough on your account. That delay comes from Steam, not from us, and we cannot lift it. Enable the Steam mobile authenticator ahead of time to avoid it.
33What is the marketplace commission?
+
The player marketplace commission is 10% for the seller.
34What is a CS2 wager?
+
A match where both sides stake the same amount of UPC. Solo in 1v1 through matchmaking, or as a team in a private lobby from 1v1 to 5v5, each player accepting the stake. The winner takes 1.9x their stake.
35My payment failed or was charged twice.
+
Payments go through Stripe. A declined authorisation is never captured, even if your bank shows it for a while. If in doubt, open a ticket under Payment with the date and amount: we will find the transaction and sort it out.
36Why is the prize pool lower than the total entry fees?
+
A levy applies to the entry fees, shown on every tournament, and it is burned in full: those UP-Coins leave circulation and return to nobody, not even the platform. That is deliberate — UpFrag issues UP-Coins itself, so there is nothing to gain from collecting them; burning them protects the value of the ones you hold. Substitutes' and coach's fees are burned in full too, since they feed no prize pool. The amount shown on the tournament page already accounts for all of this.
37How do referrals work?
+
You have a personal code on the Referral page. A player who enters it when signing up becomes your referee. Once they finish their 10 placement matches, you get 1000 UPC.
38When do I get the 1000 UPC?
+
When your referee finishes their 10 placement matches, not when they sign up. That is around five hours of real play: referrals reward a player who stays, not an account created then dropped.
39Can the 1000 referral UPC buy skins?
+
Yes. That is what sets it apart from other platform rewards: referrals pay in base UPC, meaning real value (1000 UPC = 1 EUR). You can spend it on any skin on the market, exactly as if you had sold a skin or topped up your account. Bonus UPC granted elsewhere can only be staked.
40Does my referee get something too?
+
They get the usual welcome rewards by finishing their onboarding. The 1000 UPC bounty goes to the referrer once the 10 placement matches are done.
41Can I refer myself with a second account?
+
No, and it would not pay off. An account cannot refer itself, phone and email are unique, and ten real matches must be played before the bounty lands. Signups made from the same connection as the referrer are flagged and reviewed; a shared household is legitimate, an account farm is not.
42How does the CS2 ranking work?
+
It is built on Glicko-2, a public algorithm also used in chess rating, enriched with individual performance. After placement matches, every point gained or lost is broken down after each game.
43How does ELO work?
+
We use a modified Glicko-2 system. Your rating adjusts based on match results, opponent strength, and your consistency.
44What happens to my rank if I stop playing?
+
You do not lose points for being inactive. What grows is the uncertainty about your level: when you come back, the first matches move your rank faster in either direction until it settles again.
45How do I keep my account secure?
+
Sign-in goes through Steam, so it is your Steam account you need to protect first, with the mobile authenticator enabled. Never share your credentials and beware of sites imitating the Steam login page. We will never ask you for your Steam password.
46How do I delete my account and my data?
+
Open a ticket under Account from the email address linked to it. Deletion is permanent: match history, ranking and UP-Coin balance are lost. Withdraw your skins first.
